Joana holds a degree in Law from the Portuguese Catholic University (1998) and a master's degree in Legal and Civil Sciences (UCP), with international professional training in Santiago de Compostela (law firm of D. Javier Santullano – dean of Galicia) and in Bristol (Ledbury Raskin, Sisman Nichols and Associates). Since 2007, she has been a member of FPRA Advogados and began working as a certified legal translator, collaborating with translation companies, public institutions and embassies. Joana is currently a guest assistant at the University of Porto, teaching Legal Translation (English-Portuguese) and Interpreting for the Public Service. From 2016 to 2024, she served as Honorary Consul of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, collaborating with the consular services department of the British Embassy in Portugal.
